Council denies zoning amendment in 4-2 vote

Council Mayor · Meeting of April 2, 2026

PA ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown Council rejects zoning amendment 4-2. The borough Council voted to deny a proposed zoning ordinance amendment backed by Catalyst Commercial Development, with President Jeff Winterborne and Councilmembers Andrew Schoenberger and J. Marc Hershey joining Schoenberger's motion for denial, while Vice President Jeff McCloud and Councilmember Jay Hynicker opposed.

Nine residents spoke against the amendment; Hynicker said he voted for it to preserve farmland through building density. Council unanimously approved twin city agreements with Letterkenny, Ireland, approved a one-million-dollar C2P2 grant application for park improvements, and promoted Officer Alex Leonard to Corporal.
